This podcast features Idaho’s own Rue Frisbee, the fiddle player with one of my favorite Idaho bands, Chicken Dinner Road. Rue, born and raised in Emmett, Idaho, started playing fiddle and guitar at a young age. You will hear him reminiscing about listening to radio station KWEI out of Weiser, Idaho, and his fascination with the fiddle players. Not long after, Rue became a regular contestant at the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest and always finished in the top 5—not bad considering the level of players, including a young player named Sam “Sammy” Bush.
Rue tells great stories about his Weiser experiences and provides great advice to young and old players alike. So please, take some time out of your busy day, perhaps with a cup of tea, coffee, or beer, and listen to this podcast. It will have you smiling. Then afterwards, pick up that instrument and play! Thanks to Gary Eller and Bob Pori for pulling together another great podcast that truly captures bluegrass in Idaho. |
