“Bluegrass in Idaho is a welcome community,” says Dennis Stokes to Gary Eller in IBA’s 9th podcast. How true! Dennis is lead singer and mandolin player for Idaho’s Chicken Dinner Road and has been a fixture in the Idaho bluegrass scene for over 15 years.
In this podcast, Dennis and Gary reminisce about Bluegrass in the Barn, organized by the late Bob Greer. Be sure to check out the photographs of the Barn and photos of some familiar players and audience members. Also, the podcast incorporates some great examples of Dennis’s singing, including one of my CDR favorites - Mr. Campbell with Steve Brown on harmony. In closing the podcast, Dennis provides some sound advice when asked about the future of bluegrass: “Always be learning.” So after listening to this podcast, pick up that instrument and sing! |
